The skeletal scintigraphy is a nuclear medical examination of the bone structure and visualizes the bone metabolism. Bones react to all injuries with a drive to repair themselves. This process is captured with a scintigraphy scan.
In patients with malignant tumors we can thus determine if metastases are already present in the bone. In case of rheumatic diseases we can identify the severity of the inflammation and also detect loosening of joint prostheses or bone fractures and even approximately when the fracture occurred.
